Goa has been awarded the rights to host the 36th National Games by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA)
- The Govt. of Goa and the National Games Organizing Committee have been directed to work with regards to the preparations of the event.
- Various components like protocol and ceremonies, accommodation Games Village, hospitality and coordination, transportation and other segments will be mandated to the Host City.

- The first Modern National Games on the lines of the Olympics were held in 1985 in New Delhi.
- The National Games were normally to be held every two years, leaving those years in which the Olympic Games and Asian Games are scheduled.
About Indian Olympic Association (IOA)
- The Indian Olympic Association is the body that selects athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games, Asian Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indian teams at the events.
- It also acts as the Indian Commonwealth Games Association, responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Commonwealth Games.
