India's first Centre for Animal Law has been established at NALSAR University of Law of Hyderabad.

- Humane Society International, India and NALSAR University will work together to steer and coordinate the activities of the centre.
- HSI-India Managing Director N G Jayasimha was appointed as the honorary director of the Centre.
- This entre will create curriculum on animal welfare laws, including developing topics for research.
- Workshops will be organised on animal laws and animal welfare issues with judicial magistrates, animal welfare advocates, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders in the government.
