Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh launched a series of new projects in the state.

- In Kinnaur, he launched the first phase of the ongoing Kashang hydel (65 MW) project.
- The work on the integrated Kashang Project was started in 2009 by the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation.
- This project had undergone many hurdles including environmental clearance.
- The project has estimated capacity of 195 MW but due to an ongoing dispute in the National Green Tribunal, only 65 MW power can be produced.
