  • India's National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) and the International Road Federation, Geneva (IRF Geneva) have signed a Statement of Intent (SoI)  to cooperate in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).  
  • SOI aims at creating a national platform for the purpose of developing a National ITS Policy that will cover
  • Traffic Management, 
  • Parking Management
  • Electronic Enforcement of Traffic Rules and Regulations
  • Fleet Management and Monitoring
  • Innovation in the field of ITS
  • Education in the field of ITS

About NITI Ayog

  • NITI Aayog which stands for National Institution for Transforming India is a Government of India policy think-tank established by the BJP government.
  • It replaced the Planning Commission which followed the top-down model. 
  • It was formed on 1 January 2015
