The government has promoted senior IPS officers Rakesh Asthana as a special director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
- Gurbachan Singh is appointed as a special director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) while Sudeep Lakhtakia is placed as Special DG in CRPF.
- Rajesh Ranjan and AP Maheshwari are promoted as Special DG in the Border Security Force
About CBI
- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the domestic security agency of India.
- It is supervised by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions of the Federal government.
- It is headed by a Cabinet Minister who reports directly to the Prime Minister.
- Currently, the CBI director is Alok Verma.
- It was formed in 1941 as the Special Police Establishment.

Border Security Force
- The Border Security Force (BSF) is the primary border guarding force of India.
- It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of the Union of India
- It was raised in the wake of the 1965 War on 1 December 1965, "for ensuring the security of the borders of India
