Past Master theatre actor-director Ram Gopal Bajaj will be felicitated with Kalidas Samman.
- The award was instituted by the Madhya Pradesh government, for his work in the field of theatre.
- The award will be given at the All India Kalidas Festival in Ujjain on October 31.
- Ram Gopal Bajaj is a former Director of the National School of Drama.
- He is currently working on TV show "Rishton Ka Chakravyuh".
About Kalidas Samman
- The Kalidas Samman is an acclaimed arts award presented annually by the government of Madhya Pradesh in India.
- The award is named after Kālidāsa who is a renowned Classical Sanskrit writer of ancient India.
- The Kalidas Samman was first given in 1980.
- Initially, it was conferred in alternate years in the fields of Classical Music, Classical Dance, Theatre and Plastic Arts.
- From 1986-87 onwards, the awards were presented in all four fields every year.
- The award is presented for outstanding achievement in one of the four categories.
