  • The UN also represents a series of specialized agencies that enable it to do its job in each of the areas it focuses on, groups like the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization), the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), and more each handle their own individual aspect of its operation.

World Development Information Day: 24 October 2017

  • The General Assembly in 1972 established World Development Information Day on 24th October.
  • The day draws the attention of the world to development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve them.
  • The date for the Day should coincide with United Nations Day, 24 October, which was also the date of the adoption, in 1970, of the International Development Strategy for the Second United Nations Development Decade.
