Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, participated in the IEF 7th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER7) held from 1st to 2nd November.
- Presently India is the chair of International Energy Forum (IEF) which is promoting the AMER.
- Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable is a biennial event bringing together Energy Ministers and experts from Asian countries.
- Energy Ministers from Ministers Qatar, Brunei and Senior Representatives from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). Energy Ministers from Saudi Arabia, Russia, UAE, Thailand, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Brunei also participated in the AMER.
- “Natural Gas: Overcoming Market and Policy Hurdles to the Golden Age of Gas” was the focus of discussion at the meeting.
- As India is going to host the 16th Ministerial Conference of the IEF in April 2018 thus Pradhan invited his counterparts from Asian countries to participate in the prestigious 16th IEF Ministerial Conference in India.
International Energy Forum
- It is the world's largest recurring gathering of energy ministers with 76 member countries.
- It is promoted by a permanent Secretariat based in the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
