Mitra, a made-in-India robot, greeted Ivanka Trump, US President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Hyderabad
- The robot developed and designed by Balaji Viswanathan and his 14-member team greeted the two leaders with a ‘Namaste’
- Mitra had a partner as another bot was also deployed at the venue.
- The second robot interacted and conversed with the audience outside the main arena, and tackled any kind of conversation, be it a simple question like ‘How are you?’ or discussing views on investor and entrepreneur Elon Musk.
- Mitra travelled around the arena and used facial and voice recognition to know when someone is talking to it.
- The beauty of Mitra is that it does not need a trigger word like Alexa or Siri.
- The robot is made of fibre-glass and is an updated and modified version of Mitra1 and all parts of the bot are sourced domestically, except for the chips that are imported.
