Well-recognised Bengali writer Nabaneeta Dev Sen has won the Big Little Book Award 'Author in Bengali language' category at the second edition of awards .
- Big Little Book Award recognises and honours authors and illustrators who have contributed to children's literature
- Nabaneeta Dev Sen is the recipient of the Sahitya Academy Award and the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Award
- She has been writing for children as well as general readers for the past three decades.
- The award has been instituted under Parag initiative of Tata Trusts to promote children's literature.
- The award would be focussing on one Indian language every year. Last year it was Marathi, this year Bengali
- For 2016, the author award went to Ms. Madhuri Purandare for her contribution to Marathi children’s literature and the illustrator award went to Mr. Atanu Roy.
- In the illustrator category, Proiti Roy received the honour.

- Former sports journalist Manik Banerjee was presented with the Life Time Achievement Award by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF).
- The award recognised his achievements in mountaineering over a period of four decades.
- He has made invaluable contribution in promotion of mountaineering and allied adventure activities in various media.
