The state governments of West Bengal and Odisha conducted a joint coastal exercise named "Sagar Kavach".
- The exercise aimed at tightening the coastal security mechanism.
- The exercise assessed the preparations and security measures alongside the 630 metres long coastal line.
- The measures of Indian Navy, Indian Army, Marine Police Force, Indian Coast Guard were assessed during the exercise.
- During exercise, a simulated attack called red force was organised to check the effectiveness of marine police force.
- The drill revaluated the existing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) mechanisms.
