Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first World Food India event at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi.
- The event will be organised from November 3 to November 5, 2017.
- India is hosting World Food India event for the very first time.
- It is organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under the leadership of Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal
- The aim of this event is to transform the food economy and realise the government's vision of doubling farmers' income by establishing India as a preferred investment destination and sourcing-hub for the global food processing industry.
- Renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor is appointed as the brand ambassador of the 'Great India Food Festival'
- Over 800 kgs of khichdi will be prepared live on 4 November at the festival in a bid to create a world record and popularise the dish globally. The khichdi will be prepared by chef Sanjeev Kapoor
- 7,000 stakeholders from almost 60 countries are expected to attend the event.
- Germany, Japan and Denmark are partner countries to World Food India, while Italy and the Netherlands are the focus countries.
