Jammu and Kashmir govt. launches Saubhagya Scheme

The government of Jammu and Kashmir on 11th December, 2017 has launched “Saubhagya” under P.M. Narendra Modi’s Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojona with an aim to provide free electricity connections to poor people in the State.

The scheme was launched by Jammu and Kashmir’s deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh to ensure the benefit of the scheme in a transparent manner the poor people identified by the socio-economic and Caste Census of 2011 and others sections for Rs500, payable in 10 instalments in the bill.

What is Saubhagya Scheme?

The scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi with an aim to provide electricity connections to over 40 million families in rural and urban areas by December 2018. The scheme will help India to help meet its global climate change commitments as electricity will substitute kerosene for lighting purposes.
Recently Manipur also launched Saubhgya Scheme in the state to benefit  1.75 lakh households with electricity connections
