Goa will be hosting the 3rd Edition of the Science Film Festival of India from January 16-19.
- The festival titled “SCI-FFI Goa” is being organized by the state based Vidnyan Parishad, Goa’s Department of Science and Technology, the Entertainment Society of Goa and the Goa College of Art.
- It will be a three days event which will feature film screenings, interactive sessions and workshops and presentations on space, robotics and environment.
- There would be cash prizes for the best film apart from awards for categories including direction, cinematography, editing, design etc.
- The total prize money is Rs 1 lakh and will be given away during the opening ceremony.
- The highlight of the festival will be the Science Film Making competition with two categories where films of a duration of 5 minutes and those above 5 minutes will be included.
- The school students have also been invited to participate by submitting films shot in mobile phones on any topic related to science.
- This competition aims to boost the culture of scientific films.
- The opening film will be “The Man Who Knew Infinity” and the festival will close with the film “Apollo 13”.
