India's Aanchal Thakur created history by winning a medal at the Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup in Turkey organised by The Federation Internationale de Ski.
- She won the medal in the slalom race category, which involves skiing between poles and gates spaced more closely than giants slalom or super giant slalom.
- 21 year old Aanchal Thakur belongs to a small village in Manali. She won a bronze medal at the prestigious event which was organised at Palandoken Ski Centre in Erzurum in Turkey, from January 6 to January 9.
- Aanchal is the daughter of the secretary general of the Winter Games Federation of India - Roshan Thakur. She learned the tricks and the trades of the sport from her father and after that went on to work with Olympian Heera Lal.
