Saina Nehwal (India) settled for a silver medal at the Indonesia Masters 2018 after losing to World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying of China in the final match at Jakarta’s Istora Senayan.
- The final match lasted for 27 minutes which resulted in the victory of Tai Tzu Ying with sets 21-9, 21-13.
- The Chinese Taipei player became the first to win the tournament in the history of the event.
- Saina Nehwal had made her first appearance in the final of a tournament in over a year. Her last foray in the final of a tournament came back in January 2017, when she won the Malaysian Masters Grand Prix Gold.
- Earlier in November 2017, in the Hong Kong Open Saina had been beaten by the 19 years old Chinese Tai Tzu Ying
- Saina Nehwal has now lost to Tai Tzu Ying in seven consecutive matches.
