Former world silver medallist Sarjubala Devi claimed the gold medal at the National Women’s Boxing Championship.
- Sarjubala also won the best boxer trophy at the National Women’s Boxing Championship.
- She defeated Haryana’s Ritu by 3-2 to clinch the maiden medal for her state Manipur as well as her second successive national title.
- Sarjubala represented Manipur in the 48 kg category in the National Women’s Boxing Championship in Rohtak.
- The other gold winners apart from Sarjubala Devi were Sonia Lather representing Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the 57 kg category, Meena Kumari of AIP (All India Police) in the 54 kg category and Rajesh Narwal from RSPB in the 48 kg category.
- The Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) came out to be the overall champions.
