About Doshi
The 45th Pritzker laureate is renowned for his sustainable architecture and inexpensive housing and ringing modernist design to India. Doshi is one of the last living architects to have apprenticed with the Franco-Swiss trailblazer Le Corbusier. He is an important figure of South Asian architecture and contributed to the evolution of architectural discourse in India. The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and the Aranya Low-Cost Housing development in Indore which was awarded the Aga Khan Award for Architecture are the two of his exemplary works.What is Pritzker Prize?
Pritzker Prize is awarded annually to "to honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.". It was established in 1979 by Jay A. Pritzker and his wife Cindy. It is said to be world's premier architecture prizes and is also referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture.
The recipients receive US$100,000, a citation certificate, and since 1987, a bronze medallion.
