The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting begins in London from 16-18th April 2018.
It has begun with four forum events, bringing together representatives from the worlds of business, civil society and government.

- PM Modi is expected to take part in the event on 19th and 20th April 2018.

- Theme of the Summit = “Towards a Common Future”
- Modi’s visit will mark India's enhanced engagement with the multilateral organisation, including increased financial and other contributions.
- The summit is held every two years. An Indian PM would attend the summit, having skipped the one in Perth, Colombo and Malta since 2009.
- The nations will come together to reaffirm the common values, address the shared global challenges being faced and to work to create a better future for the Commonwealth’s 2.4 billion citizens, particularly young people who account for 60% of the population.
- The week will begin with three days of Commonwealth Forums around four topics: Business, Women, People and Youth. The event will witness four major forums where the discussions would be enriched by a variety of events -
- Commonwealth BUSINESS Forum
- Commonwealth PEOPLE’S Forum
- Commonwealth WOMEN’S Forum
- Commonwealth YOUTH Forum
- The event will be followed by a dinner hosted by the Head of Commonwealth, The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

- A more prosperous future
- Commonwealth leaders will then gather at Windsor Castle for the Leaders’ Retreat - a day when leaders engage in frank dialogue and set the course for future Commonwealth co-operation.
- The Royal Commonwealth Society is supporting CHOGM 2018 and the Commonwealth Youth Forum’s (CYF) International Youth Task Force in a special social media campaign.
- This aims to encourage as many Commonwealth young people as possible to participate in the summit by sharing their priorities for Commonwealth action and their vision for the future.
