About Hyderabad Sailing Week:
- The YAI Multi-Class (Ranking) Sailing Championship is one of the oldest sailing competitions in India.
- The championship is held every year in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and is going to be held at the Hussain Sagar Lake.
- The objective of this Championship is to put Hyderabad onto the world sailing map.
- The event will take place from 2nd to 7th July.
- 2019 is a landmark year for EME Sailing Association as this year the event has been accredited as YAI National Ranking Event hence, participant sailors' performance will be ranked and this will give them points for selection into the National team.
About the Participants:
- Participants include 190 plus sailors, 16 sailing clubs with around 21 sailors from Telangana state alone.
- The technical part of the championship is being taken care of by foreign sailing members.
Who is organising the event?
- The event is jointly organised by Secunderabad Sailing Club and EME Sailing Association (EMESA) under the aegis of Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) supported by the Sports Authority of Telangana State.
About EME Sailing Association:
- EMESA was formed in 1964.
- It has produced a number of medal winners both at National and International level.
- Also in the year 1986, LCAI was founded with a view to promoting sailing in India.
- Since then, the event has been conducted continuously for the last 33 years and is popularly known as the "Hyderabad Sailing Week".
