  • On 20th July 1969, American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the 1st humans to set foot on the Moon
  • Their lunar module was named Eagle, and over 6 hours later its landing on the moon, Armstrong placed his left foot on the moon’s surface
  • Armstrong, Aldrin and Michael Collins (the 3rd crew member) took off from Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral, Florida in the spaceflight named Apollo 11
  • NASA showed the streaming footage of the launch online on the anniversary, which was watched by half a billion people 50 years ago
