“LaQshya” to improve Public Health Facility

About “LaQshya”:

  • It stands for Labour room Quality Improvement Initiative
  • Concerned Ministry: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
  • Launch date: 12th December 2017
  • The government of India launched “LaQshya” scheme to improve public health facility in maternity operations Theatres and labour rooms
  • Aim: To reduce maternal and newborn mortality, morbidity and stillbirths due to care around delivery in the Labour room and Maternity Operation Theatre and ensure maternity care.
  • Objective: To improve Quality of care during the delivery and reduce maternal and newborn mortality
  • It works as per ‘Newborn Health Toolkit’ and ‘Labour Room Standardization Guidelines’ issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
  • Facilities provided under the scheme include District Hospitals, Government medical college hospitals
