About “LaQshya”:
- It stands for Labour room Quality Improvement Initiative
- Concerned Ministry: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
- Launch date: 12th December 2017
- The government of India launched “LaQshya” scheme to improve public health facility in maternity operations Theatres and labour rooms
- Aim: To reduce maternal and newborn mortality, morbidity and stillbirths due to care around delivery in the Labour room and Maternity Operation Theatre and ensure maternity care.
- Objective: To improve Quality of care during the delivery and reduce maternal and newborn mortality
- It works as per ‘Newborn Health Toolkit’ and ‘Labour Room Standardization Guidelines’ issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
- Facilities provided under the scheme include District Hospitals, Government medical college hospitals
