Functions:
- It is focused to tap the benefits of the Research & Development carried out by ISRO to boost its economic gain
- The function of NSIL is to spearhead commercialization of space products, small satellite technology transfer to industries, to aid the process of manufacturing of small satellite Launch vehicle (SSLV) and production of polar satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)
- It will provide production and transfer of technologies developed by ISRO by coordinating with the industries
- The total outlay for NSIL is estimated to be Rs 100 crore
Commercial Arm:
- Presently, Antrix Ltd is the commercial arm of ISRO and the inclusion of NSIL is to give more strength to the Department of Space in the marketization of space products
- Antrix Ltd develops satellites and provides commercial launches
