Current context: The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated two-day International Conference on Teacher Education on 17th August 2019.
- The Conference titled “Journey of Teacher Education: Local to Global” and was held in New Delhi
- The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) is organizing the two-day event as part of silver jubilee celebration of its establishment in 1995
- The focus of the event was on the internationalization of teacher education, innovations in teaching practices, inclusive education in the teaching-learning environment, etc.
- Ms. Rina Ray, Secretary of Department of School Education & Literacy, MHRD said that the HRD Ministry will launch the world’s biggest project for teacher training named NISHTHA (National Initiative on School Teachers Head Holistic Advancement) on 22nd August 2019
- The project NISHTHA would train more than 42 lakh teachers
- NCTE was established on 17th August 1995 and worked for setting norms and standards for teachers and achieve coordinated development of the teacher education system and also act as an advisory body to Central and State Governments
