- Kristalina Georgieva of Bulgaria (1st person from an emerging market economy) has been appointed as the new head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She has succeeded Christine Lagarde for a five-year term from October.
- Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta (duo) has won the IBSF World Snooker Team title which was held at Mandalay, Myanmar. The duo defeated Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon and Kritsanut Lertsattayathor of Thailand in the Semi-final.
