Current context: India has announced to give $22 million to the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFTAM).
India announced $22 million to GFTAM  
  • This is the 6th replenishment cycle (2020-22) of the GFTAM, and India has increased its contribution by 10% over its 5th cycle contribution.
  • India is the 1st country among G20 and BRICS to announce the pledge of Global fund for the 6th replenishment cycle (2020-22).
  • India has a partnership, both as a recipient and as a donor with the GFTAM since 2002.
  • So far, the GFTAM has made an investment of $2 billion in attaining targets related to HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria reduction.
  • The Global Fund has allocated $500 million to India in the current funding cycle (2018-21).
  • From the initiation of its partnership with the Global Find, India has contributed $46.5 million so far till 2019.
