  • Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has manufactured the submarine in Mumbai and designed by the French naval Defence and Energy Company DCNS.
  • INS Khanderi is undersea trial since its launch in January 2017.
  • It is named after its predecessor INS Khanderi (S22), which was named after Chhatrapati Shivaji's island fort of Khanderi.
  • Scorpene class submarine features diesel propulsion and are diesel-electric attack submarines.
  • INS Kalvari was the 1st scorpene class submarine to be commissioned into the Indian Navy on December 2017.
