  • The Assam government has started a scholarship scheme for children of tea gardens in the state. The children of the tea tribe, studying in class 10th and 12th class will be provided with Rs 10,000 for each student.
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd has launched its first overseas branch at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). It is in addition to the banking unit at the International Financial Centre at GIFT City in Gujarat.
  • Kais Saied is being sworn-in as the President of Tunisia on 23rd October 2019.

  • The Union Cabinet in its meeting on 23rd October has decided to hike Minimum Support Price, for Rabi crops for marketing season 2020-21. MSP of wheat has been increased by Rs 85 per quintal and MSP of Gram increased by Rs 225, Mustard oil Rs 225, barley Rs 85, and Sunflower Rs 270 per quintal.
  • Union Cabinet has approved to grant ownership rights to 40 lakh residents of unauthorized colonies in Delhi.
  • The government has decided to create two new commands of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, ITBP. The one is the Western Command at Chandigarh and other is the Eastern Command at Guwahati.
