- Mahinda Rajapaksa has been sworn in as the new Prime minister of Srilanka Ranil Wickremsinghe resigned from his post. He was sworn in by the President Gotabaya
- Kerala government has decided to ban the manufacture, sale and storage of one-time-use plastic items from 1st January 2020 in the state. A fine of 10,000 rupees will be slapped for one time violation of the norms and for the second time, the fine will be 25,000 rupees.

- The Assam government has released the new Land Policy 2019 in Guwahati on 21st October 19 after 30 years when it was last prepared in 1989. The policy has been made to remove complications regarding land allotments and settlements.
