Current context: the 8th edition of India China joint training exercise ‘Hand-in-Hand-2019’ began at Joint Training Node, Umroi, Meghalaya on 7th Dec 19.
Exercise Hand-In-Hand-2019 
  • This is a 14 days long joint training exercise and the People's Liberations Army (PLA) contingent from the Tibet Military Command and Indian Army contingent will participate in the exercise.
  • The theme of the exercise is “counter-terrorism” under United Nations mandate.
  • The exercise aims to share the experience between both the contingents in counter - terrorism operations in Semi-Urban Terrain and Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
  • The Chinese contingent is led by Col Hu Chunguang while the Indian contingent is led by Col KJ Singh.
  • The joint military exercise 2019 marks the 70th year since the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and China.
