India’s Top 10 Police Stations for 2019

Current context: The Ministry of Home Affairs has released the list of 10 best performing Police stations from across the country.

• The top 3 police stations in the list are:

1. Aberdeen, Andaman District, Andaman & Nicobar Islands
2. Balasinor, Mahisagar District, Gujarat
3. Ajk Burhanpur, Burhanpur district, Madhya Pradesh

• Prime Minsiter while addressing the DGPs during the 2015 Conference in Kutch, Gujarat had directed to do grading and ranking of Police Stations.
• The objective was to rank the top 10 Police Stations out of 15,579 Police Stations in the country through:

1. Data analysis
2. Direct observation
3. Public feedback

• The best-performing police stations, in each state, were shortlisted on the basis of addressing:

1. Property offence
2. Crime against women
3. Crime against weaker sections
