Current context: The Finance Ministry appointed Soma Roy Burman, as the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) with effect from 1st December 19.
Soma Roy Burman appointed as CGA 
  • Soma Roy Burman is a 1986-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service Officer.
  • She is the 24th CGA and is the 7th woman to hold this position.
  • Smt. Burman holds the degree of M.Phil in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Delhi.
  • She has held cadre positions at different levels in Ministries of Finance, Human Resource Development, Home Affairs, Information & Broadcasting etc.
  • She has served as the chief controller of the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) and director of the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF), New Delhi.
  • Smt. Burman served as Additional Controller General of Accounts in the office of CGA, before assuming the charge of CGA.
