- IPS officer Anand Prakash Maheshwari took over as the new director general of the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) on 15th January 2020 which is the world's largest paramilitary force.
- Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh has announced that for the first time, Delhi Metro, Northern Railway Employees and media persons covering polling can also use postal ballot facility to cast their votes. Till now, voting through postal ballot was available to armed forces and those assigned in poll duties.
