  • On the occasion of Chinese Spring Festival on 23rd January 2020, a Ceremonial Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) between India and China was conducted at Chinese BPM Huts at Daulat Beg Oldie -Tien Wien Dien (DBO-TWD) Meeting Points on the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. The meet aimed to improve relations at the functional level in the border areas.
  • Union Tribal Affairs Ministry has proposed 6th Schedule Area status to Union Territory of Ladakh.

  • Researchers have discovered the oldest ever mushroom fossil to be identified, published in the journal Science Advances, whose age is between 715 and 810 million years. The fossils were found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
  • The two-day ‘Innovation Festival’ has begun in Arunachal Pradesh at the Science Centre on 26th January 2020. The festival is being organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology in collaboration with the National Innovation Foundation.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the conferment of Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards - 2019 on 54 persons. The award is given in three categories - Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak.
