December GST Revenue Collection

Current context: Rs 1,03,184 crore is the gross GST revenue collected in the month of December, 2019.

  • Out of the total amount, the revenue collected include:
    • CGST is Rs 19,962crore 
    • SGST is Rs 26,792crore 
    • IGST is Rs 48,099crore (including ₹ 21,295crore collected on imports) 
    • Cess is Rs 8,331crore (including ₹ 847crore collected on imports) 
  • A total of 81.21lakh GSTR 3B Returns have been filed for the month of November up to 31stDecember, 2019.
  • The impressive growth of 16% is observed in the GST revenues during the month of December, 2019 from domestic transactions, as compared to the Dec 18 collection.
  • The government has settled Rs 21,814crore to CGST and Rs 15,366crore to SGST from IGST as regular settlement. 
  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax (or consumption tax) used in India on the supply of goods and services. 
  • GST tax slabs for collection of tax - 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% .
  • GST came into effect from 1st July 2017.
