GSAT-30 Satellite

Current context: GSAT-30 satellite is scheduled to be launch from French Guiana, France on 17th January 2020.
GSAT-30 Satellite 
  • The GSAT-30 is a communication satellite of India and will be launched onboard Ariane-5 launch vehicle (VA 251).
  • The satellite weighs 3357 kg and has a mission life of more than 15 years.
  • The features and purpose of GSAT-30 satellite are:
    1. GSAT-30 is to serve as a replacement to INSAT-4A spacecraft services with enhanced coverage.
    2. It will be used for supporting VSAT networks, Television uplinking and Teleport services, Digital Services News Gathering(DSNG), DTH-Television services, cellular backhaul connectivity and others.
    3. The satellite provides Indian mainland and islands coverage in Ku-band.
    4. It also provides extended coverage in C-band which helps Television broadcasters to beam their programs over India, Gulf countries, a large number of Asian countries and Australia.
