State Energy Efficiency Index 2019

Current context: Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R K Singh, released the State Energy Efficiency Index 2019 in New Delhi on 10th January 2020.

 

• The State Energy Efficiency Index 2019 tracks the progress of Energy Efficiency Initiatives in 36 States and Union Territories based on 97 significant indicators.
• The index is developed by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in association with Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE).
• The Index will help the government to achieve national goals on energy security and climate action by better programme implementation at the state and local level.
• The first such Index was launched on August 2018.
• This year, the Index assessed energy efficiency initiatives, programs and outcomes in five distinct sectors:

1. Buildings
2. Industry
3. Municipalities
4. Transport
5. Agriculture
6. DISCOMs
