Current context: The 4th East Asia Summit (EAS) conference on Maritime Security Cooperation is scheduled to be held in Chennai, India.

  • Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India in partnership with Government of Australia and Indonesia will organise the 4th EAS Conference on Maritime Security Cooperation from 6-7th Feb 2020 in Chennai.
  • Among 100 expected participants 50 delegated nominated by the EAS participating countries are expected.
  • Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and The National Maritime Foundation (NMF) are the knowledge partners of the conference.
  • This conference is expected to serve as a platform for free and open dialogue among all the EAS partners, Including:
    1. Holistic Maritime Security
    2. Maritime Safety
    3. Transition to a Regional Blue Economy
    4. India’s Indo-Pacific Ocean’s Initiative
    5. The way forward
