- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Khelo India University Games in Cuttack, Odisha via video link on 22nd Feb 2020.
- India won one silver and two bronze medals on concluding day of Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi. Jitender won silver medal in 74 kg category by defending Kazakhstan's Daniyar Kaisanov. In 86 Kg category, Deepak Punia defeated Issa Abdulsalam Abdulwahhab Al Obaidi of Iraq and clinched a bronze medal. Rahul Aware defeated Iran's Majid Almas Dastan by 5-2 and settled for a bronze.
- Indian men's doubles pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and Gnanasekaran Sathiyan settled for a silver medal at the ITTF World Tour Hungarian Open at Budapest. They lost to German pair of Benedikt Duda and Patrick Franziska.
- According to the Commerce Ministry, the United States has surpassed China to become India's top trading partner. The bilateral trade between the US and India stood at nearly $88 billion in 2018-19 fiscal.
- The world-famous Goa Carnival has begun in Panaji, Goa on 22nd February 2020. The festival is being celebrated in the state since 18th century, and was introduced by the Portuguese.
