- The government of India has raised the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 3 per litre. It is done to boost revenue collections by taking advantage from the fall in international oil prices.
- The Union Cabinet has approved a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to pensioners. It will be effective from 1st January 2020.
