  • Union Cabinet has approved a proposal for the construction of 780 Km of green highways at a cost of 7,660 crore rupees in four states on 14th March 2020. The states are Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
  • South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a National State of Disaster over the coronavirus crisis. The country with the second-highest number of cases (61) in Africa after Egypt.

  • The US Federal Reserve slashed the key interest rate to virtually zero in response to the growing economic impact of the new coronavirus. Previously, the rate was at this level during the 2008 global financial crisis.
  • Jammu and Kashmir government has revoked the detention order of the former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah with immediate effect. Dr Farooq Abdullah has been under house arrest since 15th September 2019.
  • YES, Bank has reported Rs 18,654-crore loss for the December quarter. The gross Non-Performing Assets of the bank has shot-up to Rs 40,709 crore (18.87 %) of assets as of 31st December 2019.
