- For the first time, Indian scientists have revealed a microscopic image of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, published in the latest edition of the Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR) on 27th March 2020.
- Indian Council of Medical Research has announced that India will soon participate in WHO solidarity trial for developing potential drugs for COVID-19. Earlier India did not do so because the numbers were so small that contribution would have looked minuscule.
- The Reserve Bank of India allowed offshore units of Indian banks to participate in the offshore rupee derivative market to curtail volatility in currency markets due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
- The total number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed 800-mark on 27th March 2020, to 834. It is the highest single-day jump in the number of cases in the country.
- The Ministry of Health has categorised hydroxychloroquine (HCQS) drug as a schedule H1 drug- which means it cannot be sold on prescription only, due to reports of hoarding and shortage of this drug due to the national lockdown and prevent its misuse.
