- The Indian men's hockey team has climbed to its highest position since inception in 2003 at 4th position in the FIH world rankings. It has moved from fifth to the fourth position at the expense of Olympic champions Argentina, who dropped to fifth place.
- The Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament has been postponed from April to September 2020, in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak across the world. The Azlan Shah Cup is an annual men's international invitational field hockey tournament.
