  • Javier Perez de Cuella, former UN Chief, who served as United Nations Secretary-General from 1981 to 1991, passed away on 4th March 2020. The present UN head is Antonio Guterres.
  • Shafali Verma has topped the ICC women's T20 International rankings and has become only the second India batter after Mithali Raj to top the women's T20 International rankings by replacing New Zealand's Suzie Bates.
  • Badminton Asia Championships have been moved to the Philippines capital Manila from Wuhan due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
  • The J&K administration had decided to lift the ban on the broadband internet services in the Union Territory. The speed of the broadband services will remain at the 2G speed. The ban on the Internet services were imposed to control the violence in the valley after the abrogation of Article 370. 
  • The Haryana Assembly passes a bill to bifurcate the existing Scheduled Castes(SC) quota. A new class “deprived Scheduled Caste” has been created to facilitate 36 castes that include Valmiki, Sansi, Dhanaka, Sapera, etc. This new class will enjoy the fifty percent of the existing 20% quota for SC’s in higher education. 
  • Lok Sabha today passes the Direct Tax Vivaad se Vishvaas Bill, 2020 tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The bill aims to provide the taxpayers a relief by providing opportunities to settle the tax disputes by waiving interest and tax penalty in the current financial year. 
  • Gairsain in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand has been granted the status of Summer Capital of the hilly state. Currently, Dehradun is serving as the temporary capital of Uttarakhand.
