Current Context: CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) has developed HCARD (Hospital Care Assistive Robotic Device).

  • HCARD robot is developed for the frontline health workers so that they can maintain physical distance from the positive coronavirus patients while treating them.
  • HCARD is a robotic device which works in automatic as well as manual way and is incorporated with various technological devices.
  • It can be controlled and monitored by a nursing booth with a control station having such features as navigation, drawer activation for providing medicines and food to patients, sample collection, and audio-visual communication.
  • It costs for less than Rs 5 Lakhs and weighs for less than 80kg
  • HCARD robot can also be used to carry testing equipments, files, food items , medicines etc. in a comprehensive sterilized environment
