National Health Authority and Uber to Provide Transport Service to Public Health Workers

Current Context: National Health Authority of India has signed an agreement with Uber to grant public transport facilities to the health workers who are involved in delivering their useful service to the patients of COVID-19.

  • For this facility, Uber initially made provision of 150 cars free of cost in certain cities including New Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Patna.
  • This facility is granted by Uber through its UberMedic service. All UberMedic cars supplied to NHA will be equipped with roof-to-floor plastic sheeting enclosing the driver’s seat, thereby acting as a protective barrier between the rider and driver. Also after every drive, the car will be disinfected to ensure the safety and hygiene of the passengers as well as drivers.
