Current Context: India provided support of USD 2 million that is Rs 15 crore to the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) in order to offer support to Palestinian Refugees.
- The amount given to UNRWA will be utilsed for education and health in the pandemic situation of COVID-19.
- Along with this support, India has increased its annual contribution support from 1.25 million USD to 5 million USD in 2019 and also has given assurance to offer additional support of another 5 million USD for 2020.
- This will help India to become member of the agency’s advisory commission.
- UNRWA is an organisation which supports the Palestinians who had suffered in 1948 was the condition.
