Current Context: The TVS group, Sundaram Medical Foundation, and IIT-Madras have jointly developed a low-cost, automated respiratory assist device called The Sundaram Ventago.

  • It is a mobile device that will be used to assist clinicians in the monitoring of respiratory parameters.
  • It provides respiratory support to patients with the help of AMBU bags.
  • The device also helps in controlling respiratory parameters like respiratory rate, tidal volume, pressure parameters, and I: E ratios.
  • It is a ‘Make in India product’ and also has the feature of audible alarm in case of any disconnections or in the case if PIP exceeds the certain threshold value.
