Sahakar Mitra—Scheme on Internship Programme

Current Context: Sahakar Mitra is a Scheme on Internship Programme (SIP) of NCDC (National Cooperative Development Corporation).

• It is launched by Union Agricultural and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
• This scheme will provide practical experience of the co-operative and professional world to the youth of India.
• It will also offer assured project loans on liberalized terms to young professionals in the start-up industry.
• In this Sahakar Mitra Scheme young professional from academic institutes will be working with NCDC in order to incorporate skills like leadership and entrepreneurship in them by playing the role of FPO (Farmer Producer Organisation).
• The co-operatives involved in this, will provide paid internship so that young professional can learn the skills in a self –reliant manner.
• Fund for the Sahakar Mitra Scheme is created by NCDC which will provide financial support to each intern for a period of months.
• Graduate student in the field on agriculture and allied fields are eligible for this scheme.
