Current Context: The IT giant Tech Mahindra has signed a declaration of United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions and energy conservation using latest technologies like IoT, AI and blockchain.
- Already 155 global companies have inked this initiative of UNGC.
- Tech Mahindra has assured to raise the target of renewable energy to 50% by 2025.
- It will be supporting the activities targeted to hold global temperature rise to within 1.5 degree Celsius above pre-industrial levels, in order to reach net-zero emission s before 2050.
- Until now Tech Mahindra has taken steps towards a green economy by adopting low emission technology path to increase the use of renewable energy from 1.7% in 2016 to 18% in 2020.
